Built by Pullman-Standard in 1917 as 88-seat coach no. 2199 for the Illinois Central. Rebuilt in 1947 by Illinois Central shops to a "streamlined" dinette-lunch counter lounge car numbered IC 4200, and named Canal Street. Passing into private hands in 1971, the car was purchased by CSXT in 1986 from the Burger Train Restaurant in Collins, MS. Originally purchased for it's trucks, plans to scrap the car body were dropped when it was decided to refurbish the car as a deluxe diner. Greenbrier can serve 24 for dinner. In use on CSX |
